Civil defense virus testing refugee camp

19-Mar-2020

Roaming the deserted Norwegian capital, I came by Oslo's polyclinic and emergency ambulance clinic, Legevakten. Its foyer and parking lot - normally well filled with patients and their escorting friends or family, was void of people. Patients were met outside by a person in full protective gear, the entrance was blocked for visitors. The parking lot hosted two pitched-up orange-colored civil defense tents which make the spectator think of an UN refugee camp. The tents are equipped for mass reception of coronavirus suspects in case of infection escalation. Bright cold white lights gave the scene an air of an antarctic expedition camp.

I hurried on while an ambulance car rushed out of the garage located in my back.

A refugee camp in Oslo? No, it's preparedness for exponential infection growth.

The tents are placed next to Oslo's main ambulance polyclinic called Legevakt.
